Detailed cookie information:

Registration cookie

This cookie name is ALLVEHICLECONTRACTS_LOGIN. This cookie enables you to register and log into secure areas of our website.

When the user logs in the server allocates a GUID to that user.

This GUID is saved in the cookie on the user’s computer called [companyname]_login (where companyname is replaced by the company name of the owning website i.e. ALLVEHICLECONTRACTS_LOGIN).

When a webpage wants to know who the user is, it reads this cookie and then the database uses the GUID it finds within to lookup the users information.

The cookie is NEVER directly referenced by the web browser other than seeing IF a value is present which denotes the user is logged in, if the cookie is EMPTY the user has logged out or never logged in.

Every time the users logs in a new GUID is attached to the customer’s account details and stored in the above mentioned cookie, upon LOGOUT the cookie is removed and the GUID attachment to the user account is removed.

Counter cookie

This cookie is required for the operation and security of our website which is enables us to count multiple quotes by unregistered users that may be spamming or using our site for commercial purposes, resulting in overloading the server.

This cookie activates a please register log in screen reminder after our quota of calculated number of quotes have been completed.

What is a GUID?

GUID (or UUID) is an acronym for 'Globally Unique Identifier' (or 'Universally Unique Identifier'). It is a 128-bit integer number used to identify resources. The term GUID is generally used by developers working with Microsoft technologies, while UUID is used everywhere else.

How unique is a GUID?

128-bits is big enough and the generation algorithm is unique enough that if 1,000,000,000 GUIDs per second were generated for 1 year the probability of a duplicate would be only 50%. Or if every human on Earth generated 600,000,000 GUIDs there would only be a 50% probability of a duplicate.

How are GUIDs used?

GUIDs are usedjust about anywhere a truly unique identifier is required.
